November, 2014 Newsletter

In October we celebrated Elyssia, CJ, Sophia, and Benjamin’s birthdays.  Carly was Miss Laura’s first Star Student and made a beautiful presentation!  We had a very well attended Back to School Night.  I hope you enjoyed hearing about your child’s day and routines. Cattus Island came to us on Wednesday with several reptiles.  We watched with fascination as the educator taught us all about each turtle’s and snake’s traits and habits. We also had our second Friday Night Babysitting evening on the 24th.  We hope the parents who took advantage of this had a wonderful evening out!  Our next one will be in December and a flyer will be coming home in the middle of November.

All month we were preparing for Halloween fun.  We had themes of pumpkins, spiders/bats, and monsters; all of which were enhanced with literacy, science, social studies, and math components.  We will culminate our month with our Halloween celebration on Friday. Our full day students rotated between full afternoon weeks of math, language, social studies, and science, with literacy activities mixed in everyday.   In November, our focus will be on Harvest, Pilgrims /Indians, and Thanksgiving. Each week we will continue to introduce a new letter of the week based on our theme.

To culminate our Thanksgiving unit, we will be having a Thanksgiving Feast on Wednesday, November 26th.  Please join us that morning for the festivities. We will be singing some Thanksgiving songs that morning led by a lady from the Peas and Carrots!  A sheet with details about that day will come home after our November break. Olivia’s mom will be coming in to Miss Laura’s class early in the month to help us make some special accessories for our program.  Ben’s dad will also be coming in on the 12th to talk about nutrition. Our break is November 3rd-November 7th.

Our fall fundraisers are due Monday, November 17th.  We will be using the proceeds for educational programs for the kids.

Please remember to pack your child a complete change of clothes each day, including an extra pair of shoes such as crocks. Label all jackets and clothes!

And finally, just a reminder to check every so often on our website, www.happydayspreschoolnj.com, for pictures of your kids in action.  “Like” us on Facebook. We very much appreciate your referrals
