January, 2013 Newsletter

Welcome Liam, Carly, Kerri, Trevor, and Coulter!

A happy and healthy New Year to everyone!  We celebrated Scarlett, Emily, and Kieran’s birthdays in December.  Ben, Maria, and Alina were Miss Laura’s Star Students and made beautiful presentations.

I hope your children enjoyed our winter concert given by Peas and Carrots on the 19th and our Polar Express/Grinch PJ party on the 20th and 21st. Our Friday Night Babysitting on the 14th was highly attended and a big success.  I hope the parents who took advantage had a nice evening to themselves!  It was a pleasure to meet with you during our parent/teacher conferences in the beginning of December to go over your child’s progress.  Report cards were sent home as well.

We had some wonderful units of study on the winter, reindeer, the holidays, winter sports and snow in December.  In January we will be focusing on the New Year and its celebrations, snowmen, polar animals, the winter, and a week of winter literature.  Our afternoons will continue to rotate between literacy, math, science, social studies, and science.

A dental hygienist will be visiting us on Thursday and Friday, January 10th and 11th to talk to the kids about their teeth and keeping them clean and healthy.  On January 23rd a hands-on science program called Science Tellers will be coming to Happy Days.

Just a reminder that we are adding on the following days because of Hurricane Sandy: Friday, February 15th, Monday, February 18th, and Monday-Thursday, March 25th- March 28th.

And finally, just a reminder to check the Stafford public school website for snow related delayed openings or closures.
