December, 2012 Newsletter
In November we welcomed Addison and Jessica to our school. We celebrated Faith and Trent’s birthdays. Emily, Kieran, and Aiden were Miss Laura’s Star Students and made beautiful presentations. Our couple of weeks’ units on Thanksgiving culminated with a wonderful Thanksgiving Feast on the 21st. Thank you so much to all of the families for sending in delicious food, drinks, or supplies for our special day. The kids were very excited to sing you the songs they had been practicing. This last week our theme of study has been farms and farm animals.
I’m happy to say that the number of full day students has increased significantly so I am adding another assistant in the afternoons. Miss Beth will be joining us on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons. We will now be breaking up by age into two classrooms as we do in the mornings. Miss Tiffany and Miss Gill will be working together with the younger students. Miss Laura and Miss Beth will work with our older students on MWF’s and Miss Laura and Miss Melanie on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
In December our morning themes of study will revolve around the winter; reindeer, the holidays, winter sports, and snow. In the afternoons there will be a week of literacy, then math, followed by social studies. We will culminate our last week of school in December with pajama/hot chocolate/Polar Express mornings on Thursday, December 20th and Friday, December 21st.
Our first report cards will be given out at the parent/teacher conferences the week of December 3rd. We look forward to meeting with you to go over your child’s progress.
Our fall fundraiser was a big success! Thank you to all of the families who participated. We will be able to do several programs with the kids now. Our first will be a winter concert given by the group Peas and Carrots on Wednesday, December 19th at 10:30 AM. All are welcome, even if it isn’t your child’s scheduled day.
Just a reminder that
we are adding on the following days because of the recent storm: Friday, February 15th and Monday-Thursday, March 25th- March 28th.
And finally, just a reminder to check the Stafford public school website for snow related delayed openings or closures.
