May, 2011 Newsletter

It’s so hard to believe that it is May already!  It has been so wonderful being able to have the kids out on our beautiful playground running around and enjoying the great weather.  Spring is truly here at last!

Both classes enjoyed many activities centered around the spring this past month.  We learned about the rain, what it produces, its importance, the spring holidays of Easter and Passover, and bunnies.  We had fun spring parties in which the kids hunted for hidden chocolate-filled eggs, made several crafts, and enjoyed ice cream sundaes. In the afternoons, we focused on the nursery rhymes “Humpty Dumpty” and “Mary Had a Little Lamb” and many thematic activities related to the rhymes. We had our pictures taken professionally; the orders will be back shortly.

In May, some of our themes of study will be mothers, bugs, flowers, and gardens.  We are looking forward to our Mother’s Day Tea on Friday, May 6th.  Miss Laura and Miss Renee’s Tea will be from 9:30-10:15 and Miss Tiffany and Miss Melanie’s will be from 10:30-11:15.    Miss Laura and Miss Tiffany will be having Parent/Teacher conferences at the end of May for any parents who did not have an opportunity to meet in December.  Anybody who already had a conference in December and would like another one at the end of this month, please let us know.

Thanks to your fundraising efforts, “The Lizard Guys” will be coming to Happy Days on Wednesday, May 25th for a special visit to show us some unusual reptiles.  Have your child join us on that morning from 10:30-11:30 even if it is not his/her regular day.

Summer camp begins on Monday, June 27th.  Days and weeks are flexible in the summer.  Have your children come enjoy theme-filled weeks of arts and crafts, games, outdoor play, and water activities.  Registration forms are available in the office.
