In October we celebrated Elyssia, CJ, Sophia, Benjamin, Helen, Jaclyn, and Finnegan’s birthdays.  Eliana, Natalie, Nate W., and Liam were Miss Laura’s Star Students and made beautiful presentations!  We had a very well attended Back to School Night.  I hope you enjoyed hearing about your child’s day and routines. The Stafford Fire Department came to Happy Days on the 5th. It was so great to learn about fire safety, meet Sparky the Dog, and get a tour of the fire trucks. Thank you to the Stafford Lions Club for conducting eye screens for our students. We will be having our first Friday Night Babysitting this coming Friday.  We hope the parents who have signed up have a wonderful evening out!  Our next one will be in December and a flyer will be coming home in the middle of November.

All month we were preparing for Halloween fun.  We had themes of fire safety, pumpkins, Where the Wild Things Are, and Halloween; all of which were enhanced with literacy, science, social studies, and math components.  We will culminate our month with our Halloween celebration on Friday. Our full day students rotated between full afternoon weeks of math, language, social studies, and science, with literacy activities mixed in everyday.   In November, our focus of study will be on scarecrows and candy corn, turkeys, and Thanksgiving. Each week we will continue to introduce a new letter of the week based on our theme.

To culminate our Thanksgiving unit, we will be having a Thanksgiving Feast/Celebration on Wednesday, November 25th.  Please join us that morning for the festivities. We will be singing some Thanksgiving songs that morning led by a singer from the Peas and Carrots!  A sheet with details about that day will come home after our November break. School is closed from November 2nd-November 6th.

Our fall fundraisers will be coming home shortly.  The orders are due Monday, November 23rd and you will have the items in plenty of time for the winter holidays. We will be using the proceeds for our educational programs for the kids.

Please remember to pack your child a complete change of clothes each day, including an extra pair of socks and shoes such as crocks. Label all jackets and clothes!

And finally, just a reminder to check every so often on our website, www.happydayspreschoolnj.com, for pictures of your kids in action.  “Like” us on Facebook. We very much appreciate your referrals and give $100 referral awards!
